Update June 11th 2018 – New Exercise Room, Gym and Changing Rooms

  1. The conversion of the former billiard room into an exercise room and multi-purpose room is well underway. In addition the committee room is being refurbished at the same time.  At present all classes currently held in the exercise room will move to this new space on Monday 2nd July when we return from the annual shutdown week.
  2. During the annual shutdown work will begin on phase 2 of the work which is a complete refurbishment of the gym and associated changing room areas.
  3. By using space from the existing exercise room, we shall increase space in both the new changing rooms and gym area.
  4. The new gym will be kitted out with Lifefitness equipment. Lifefitness have been one of the premier manufacturers of gym equipment for many years now and I believe will provide a fantastic gym space.   All cardio equipment will be capable of showing freeview tv.  We shall have a full range of resistance equipment but will increase significantly the free weights offering we currently have.  We have also set aside and area for functional work.  Before choosing the gym equipment we visited sites such as David Lloyd, MacDonald Hotels and Stirling University.
  5. The new changing rooms will deliver what should be expected of a modern space, with private shower cubicles, accessible changing space and finishes to a high standard.
  6. On the sports hall balcony the balcony will be completely isolated from the sports hall below and will house a new spin studio, including the most up to date virtual spin offering to support instructor led classes. This will allow us to offer numerous classes every day of different durations and aimed at all fitness levels.
  7. Also on the balcony will be a small area for those wanting to use the punch bag, speed ball, and make use of a wall bar facility.
  8. The refurbishment of the changing rooms and gym is expected to start week beginning 25th June and is forecast to last until mid to late October. This will mean during this time this area will no longer be available.
  9. From Monday 2nd July there will be a temporary gym available in court 1 of the sports hall. This will offer a combination of cardio equipment, free weights and a large choice of functional and floor exercise options.  Further details of how this will work can be seen in the attachment below.
  10. The sports hall will see further disruption as work takes place on the balcony; however, we will try and give as much notice of this as possible as the work progresses.
  11. For those of you who currently use the gym, please do not hesitate to speak to our fitness instructors to find out how you can get the best of the temporary gym in the sports hall.
  12. We appreciate there is a considerable amount of upheaval for members at present and over the next few months and thank you for your understanding during the works and can assure you the whole team are working hard to minimise the disruption. We are convinced the end results are going to be fantastic and will offer facilities the members will be delighted with.

Please find links to details of what the new gym will include and look like, and details of the temporary gym which will be in the sportshall.
